Hi, hopefully this is a quick question...
We're in the process of migrating off Exchange 2007 and over to 2013. For compliance purposes, we have journaling enabled in each environment. The Exchange 2007 servers journal to a mailbox on a 2007 database, while the 2013 servers journal to a mailbox on a 2013 database.
I've been asked if we can compact this down to where we have all DBs (2007 and 2013) journal to the mailbox on 2013. Now at least on the surface I know we can do this - I can go into the 2007 DB properties and select the journal target to be the 2013 journal mailbox. But I've got two questions regarding this...
1. Is there any known reason this won't work?
2. Is it not recommended for any reason? Or are there any "gotchas" I should look out for?
Enterprise Vault will pick up the journaled items, I'm mostly just curious if anyone has any experience with this and if there's any problems with modifying the targets.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
