Exchange Resource Forest

hi

can you create an Exchange Resource Forest and then link an existing accounts forest that already has a deployment of exchange

so a user in the accounts will no longer use the Accounts Exchange server but use a mailbox in the  Exchange Resource Forest

or does the accounts forest have to be void of Exchange
