Exchange 2007 Public folder removal

Hi,

I removed all the public folders from out root site from their E2K7 server as they migrated to Exchange 2013. On the 2013 server, there is no public folder being used at all, only in the child domain that is Exchange 2007.

In the child domain, all the public folders are now gone and I just have the database mounted there was issues with the replication with the root and child site, and nothing has been replicated in months. I removed the replicated folders from both servers also.

All outlook clients are 07 and 2010, so no free busy scheduling will be used. Is there anything wrong with just dismounting the PF store and see if anything negative will happen? The child exchange 2007 server is still being used, but im getting some free busy errors, but the server is running fine otherwise.

Ideally, I would like to retire the child pf too and be done with them all. is there any tips, or anything that anyone can share to make this seemless as possible without the world coming down with the pf being removed?

thanks!
