We have two exchange 2013 servers in a dag group and I just recently configured them with a relay connector. My question is, should a relay connector be configured for both of them or just one of them. I configured the connector on both servers because the whole point of the dag group is that if one server goes down, the other will continue on, but this seemed to cause major problems. All external messages were hung up most of the day until I deleted the receive connectors and restarted the transport service.
Do I only configure this on one server? If yes, does it matter which one? If it is only configured on one server, where is my redundancy? There just does not seem to be any information out there with regards to a relay connector and dag group members, so any information would be extremely helpful. I appreciate your assistance.
I accessed these two articles for information on how to setup the relay on Exchange 2013
