Greetings all,
I'm now at my wits end. I had what appears to be a perfectly functioning Exchange server until today after various Windows Updates and a server reboot were applied.
Exchange 2013 CU6 on Server2012 R2 (Single server)
When the server starts now, the Transport service fails to start, and the Filtering Management Service gets stuck at "starting" before eventually timing out. The fms.exe process is running but nothing else seems to work.
I have tried numerous things from various other posts about failing transport service:
- Removing the FMS dependency from the Transport service, but the Transport service still fails
- Disable the Exchange antimalware agent on the transport service - appears to fails with access denied? (0x80080005). It the says it was successfully disabled and to restart the transport service, but no good.
- Performing a manual "update-malwarefilteringserver" which tells me the engine metadata is not available, attempts to synchronise and then fails with an error starting the engine update
- Restored configurationserver.xml from backup before the issue started, however it is the same file and hasn't been modified for several weeks
I have removed the Endpoint AV that was installed to to be sure, but the servers has been running fine before that.
I'm really not sure just where to go from here and could really use some ideas.
Regards
Scott.
