Hello All,
I am planning to migrate about 300 mailboxes from 2003 to Exchange 2010 on a temporay basis after which it will then be migrated to 2013. I was asked about SIS ( single instance store) and what is my plan in considering a possible scenario that could affect the mailbox size once migrated to 2010. The size could possibly balloon up once a legacy mailbox is migrated to Exchange 2010?? My understanding is that SIS is a way to store an attachment or email to a separate store and that a pointer is created so a mailbox user can access the attachment/email anytime without storing the physical email/attachment to user mailbox in Exchange 2003. Is this correct??? Also, is SIS enabled by default in Exchange 2003? How can I check it? Furthermore assuming that SIS is enabled in 2003, is it a good rule of thumb to assign 2x database size for Exchange 2010 to compensate for possible growth after the migration?? Any suggestions or recommendation is greatly appreciated.
