End user cannot create Outlook 2013 profile on Exchange 2013

Greetings all and thanks in advance,

Ex2013 cu7, Outlook 2013

I have one user that when she goes to different workstations, Outlook 2013 will not auto-configure an Outlook profile for her.  However any new users using the same workstation as her and then logs on as themselves, Outlook will auto-configure their account/profile w/out issue.

It is like her mailbox is corrupt or permissions are whack.  I've moved her mailbox to a different database, but the issue persists.

Here is the message we get during auto-configure:

The auto Account Setup screen shows the correct user display name and the correct email address.  When you click next,

  • We get a green check next to: "Establishing network connection"
  • We get a green check next to "Searching for username@domain.com settings'

Then when it tries to log onto the mail server, this message:  "The connection to the Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to the complete this action".

Accessing her OWA from the same PC is allowed.  No problems.

This is NOT machine specific, as it will happen on any machine she signs onto.

This is only happening with this one account out of 550 people.

When I acknowledge the error, I am taken to the General tab for the profile, where the GUID or whatever that big long string of characters is that represents the exchange server.  The mailbox field is populated with this:  =smtp:username@contoso.com.  Checking name reveals this error:  The name cannot be resolved.  The connection to the Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.

Thanks for your input.

Willis
