Our Exchange organization has Exchange 2010 with a single application mailbox and Exchange 2013 with all other mailboxes. For the Exchange 2013 mailboxes, I am trying to get OWA integrated with Lync 2013.
On all my Exch 2013 Servers, the OwaVirtualDirectory is set with Instant Messaging enabled and the Instant Messaging Type being OCS. However, none of them have any value for either the InstantMessagingCertificateThumbprint or the InstantMessagingServerName.
Based on several articles, I added the following lines to the <AppSettings> section of C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\Owa\web.config file (using the thumbprint of the Exchange certificate on the 2013 servers):
<add key="IMCertificateThumbprint" value="4927AD28E...blah,blah...327" />
<add key="IMServerName" value="MyCorp-Lync-FE.mycorp.com" />
I then ran "appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"MSExchangeOWAAppPool". I got a message that MSExchangeOWAAppPool successfully recycled. Howeber, when I run Get-OwaVirtualDirectory, there are still no values for either the for either the InstantMessagingCertificateThumbprint or the InstantMessagingServerName on the 2013 servers.
Is this the correct procedure for applying the the InstantMessagingCertificateThumbprint and the InstantMessagingServerName to the MsExchangeOWAAppPool on the 2013 servers? Or do I need to use Set-OwaVirtualDirectory to specify them?
