Not HLB: Using Edge Exchange Server 2016 as SMTP relays

We have Exchange Server 2010 on AD Sites. We don't have HLB. Our SMTP relays redirect incoming internet Traffic to our VIP NLB (CAS/HUB).

We're going to deploy Exchange Server 2016. Internal Outlook clients will find Exchange server without problem. We'll use DNS Round Robin

My doubt is if our SMTP Relays / firewall can query DNS to find Exchange Server. I don't sure if it can use DNS round robin.

In this situation...I'm thinking deploy 2 Edge  Exchange servers. One server on Site1 and one server on Site2. I'll use NLB.

So, our SMTP Relays / firewall redirect traffic to this VIP
