I have 3 Exchange 2013 servers configured in a DAG, two of them in the main site and the other in our secondary site. Also in the secondary site is another Exchange 2013 server running the Client Access role only.
On each DAG server in turn, I activated the databases on other servers, manually put the server in maintenance mode (using the instructions in https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/nawar/2014/03/30/exchange-2013-maintenance-mode), applied CU10, took the server out of maintenance mode, and rebalanced the active copies of the databases,
This worked perfectly on the 2 servers in our main site. When I performed this on the third server (in the secondary site) everything went fine until I took the server out of maintenance mode. I performed the steps, then checked with "Get-ServerComponentState <servername>|ft component, state". All components were active until I restarted the MSExchangeTransport and the MSExchangeFrontEndTransport services. After that, the EcpProxy and RwsProxy components became inactive. All other components are active. I tried manually setting them to Active, but that didn't change anything.
What do I need to do to get these components active again? What do they do? Do I even need them active? Just in case this would be a problem, I have not yet activated any databases on this server other than a database with two test mailboxes.
Thank you for your help with this.
