Remote Domains - forwarding

Hi,

I have exchange 2007 and 2010 mixed Exchange Organization. In remote domains we have not allowed automatic forward. This works perfectly fine as the emails are not forwarded to external recipients when they we try to use outlook rules to forward such emails. 

Upon tracking the email, we see only receive event Id for the email. But there is no detail but actually happened to the email. The email is not in queue, no NDR. If there is any detailed process or article, kindly explain how this works.
