I have a requirement to setup a external pop3 connection to our exchange environment. It needs to be a secure connection so everything is encrypted. The problem I am having is that when I try and test the connection in outlook when setting up the profile I am getting the error message:
Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your server does not support the connection encryption type you have specified. Try changing the encryption method........
the connection flow right now is through my front-end Exchange 2013 CAS server, then to Exchange 2010 CAS, then to Exchange 2010 database server where the mailbox is located. My test client is on the same vlans as my servers right now to rule out any firewall issues.
If I point my outlook client (through host file changes) directly to the exchange 2010 CAS server I can get all the connectivity working, but as soon as I point my client through the Exchange 2013 CAS server (again with host file changes). I get the error above. Also when looking at the pop3 logs I see nothing is even trying to hit the 2013 cas server.
I am assuming I have a configuration issue on my exchange 2013 server, but cannot determine what might be the cause. is there another log file I could be looking at before the connection gets logged into the pop3 log files? Where are they if there is any? I didn't think there was any but just figured I would ask just in case.
From what I can tell all the set-popsettings are the same except for the internalconnectionsettings. What should these be? i am guessing that is part of the isuse. I did try and use the internalconnectionsettings that are in the value from the exchange 2013 server for the client, but that didn't work either?
Thoughts feedback.
