Older version of Exchange on mailboxes in hybrid environment

We have an Exchange Hybrid environment where we have our mailboxes in the cloud and use our Exchange On-Prem server mostly as a relay. I noticed that if I setup a user in Active Directory and then go straight to Office 365, the user's mailbox is a newer version than if I create the Office 365 mailbox through the Exchange On-Prem server. When I create the mailbox directly from the Exchange online panel, it creates a mailbox with "ExchangeVersion                       : 0.20 (15.0.0.0)". If I create the user from my on prem server and select "Office 365 mailbox," it creates a mailbox with "ExchangeVersion                       : 0.10 (14.0.100.0)". Why is it creating an older version through the on-prem admin panel? Is this going to cause me problems at some point?
