I posted a question a while back about removing some old Public Folders that are just hanging out on our Exchange 2007 servers. Well, I am finally getting around to removing the old Exchange 2007 servers. It was recommended that I remove the public folder Database before I uninstall the old Exchange 2007 servers. Now Currently we do not use Public folders at all. So I thought I would just go to the old server and remove the PF database and then just complete the uninstall. Well when I try to remove the PF database I get the following error.
--------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Exchange Error
--------------------------------------------------------
The public folder database 'Public Folders' cannot be deleted.
Public Folders
Failed
Error:
The public folder database "MAILSTORE\First Storage Group\Public Folders" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions about
how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409.
So then it looks like it wants me to delete the contents of what is in the PF database. When I go to EMC toolbox and then public folder management, I get only 2 folders Default Public Folders and System Public Folders nothing else. When I open Management Shell and run get-publicfolderstatistics a get a large list of folders. When I run get-publicfolder I receive the error:
Get-PublicFolder : There is no existing PublicFolder that matches the following Identity: '\'. Please make sure that you specified the correct PublicFolder Identity and that you have the necessary permissions to view PublicFolder.
Can someone please advise what I need to do in order to delete the old PF database. I have not had any rights issues working on this server previously so I don't believe this is a rights issue. What am I missing?
TIA
