I will preface this with a little background to explain the reason for the question:
We are replacing our SAN and have 3 vendors trying to sell to us. 2 of them we know for sure we could use and continue to run a supported configuration for Exchange 2013. However, the 3rd, which is our favorite based on experience with them in our VDI environment and their price point, does not support iSCSI. So, as we have virtual Exchange servers this means we would no longer have a configuration supported by Microsoft if we migrated to this vendor.
The vendor has advised that if we add a physical Exchange server Microsoft will support the mailstores/databases on NFS. I have not seen anything to confirm this so I thought I would ask the question here.
Will MS support an Exchange 2013 environment using a mixture of virtual and physical servers with the mail databases on NFS disk or do we still need to have them on iSCSI if we have virtual servers in the mix?
