Hi all,
This is a strange one so please bear with me. Our client needs to take a set of contacts that he has in his personal Outlook and have them synced to the local contacts on the mobile phones of all users at his company.
So I've found a product that will sync the GAL to android/iOS phones with zero user involvement or need for third party software installation - Hallelujah! (It's called CiraSync, for anyone interested)
My Issue is that the contacts he wants to sync are already in the GAL. They're Internal contacts, formatted in a specific way so that when they appear on the phone screens of his users, the users immediately know all the information they need to know about the caller (Name, the sub-company they work for, the city and branch they work at). The problem is that these contacts need to remain standard for internal email users to avoid confusion, so I can't just edit the contacts in the GAL.
My question is - is it possible to have two objects in the GAL that have the same email address? When I've tried to import a CSV with a test contact using powershell, it tells me that it failed because there is already an object with that email address. I'm wondering if GAL segmentation might allow me to have two contacts that have the same email address but different display names?
Does anyone have experience with GAL segmentation? I don't want to go to the trouble of implementing it, only to find out that it won't solve my issue.
Many thanks for any assistance provided.
Rob.
