I am reading through the document for setting up a hybrid environment and it gets into all kinds of details like mail routing, additional mx records, etc. If I want to keep all my mailboxes on-premise and just use the exchange online archiving do I have
to do all the same steps? I can understand if I put mailboxes in the cloud why this is all necessary but if we're just using the service for retention of archived items and not even actually buying exchange online licenses it seems like it shouldn't
be that complicated to set up. Is there any documentation for this particular scenario? We are currently on Exchange 2010 SP2 but can upgrade to SP3 or 2013 first if it is necessary or makes a difference.
