Retention Rule that also deletes Calendar entries - do the participants get a decline?

$

Hey there,

we want to set a retention policy "delete items after 1 year" for our shared mailboxes. They also have a lot of calendar entries with attachments so we want them deleted too.

What we do not want is, that the participants of these meetings get a decline. Anyone knows if the entries get "hard" deleted without notice?

Best regards

Stephan

Communication between Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2013

I want to allow communication between two internal exchange server, one is 2003 and the other in 2013.
I configured the DNS interior, with the mx records, to make sure that both servers can communicate.
From server 2013 to 2003 emails depart and arrive correctly.
From server 2003 to 2013 rather not start.
If I make a test with the telnet command from 2003 to 2013 the server everything works fine, but if I send the email through Outlook, the email remains in the queue and then fails to timeout.
If I do a nslookup from 2003 to 2013 comes out:
domaininexchange2013.net MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = x.x.x.x

(X.x.x.x is the IP of the mail server)

If I do a nslookup from 2013 to 2003 comes out:
domainInExchange2003 MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = x.x.x.x

(X.x.x.x is the IP of the mail server)

I do not understand why Exchange 2003 do not send the email if everything is correct.
Thank you very much, I hope you can help me because I'm frustrated

I am preparing to migrate from Exchange 2003 sp2 to 2013 and I must to communicate the two servers.

(Exchange 2003 have a dns , Exchnage 2013 have another dns server in the same lan)

I created, in dns of exchange 2003,  an MX record for the email to the mydomain.net that point to exchange 2013 mail.mydomain.net -> ipeofExchange2013

If I do a nslookup from 2003 it is not solved the mx record ... and I do not understand why you help me?

POP3 - Message MIME Format

We are running Exchange 2013. Our Exchange server receives mail from a few network scanners and routes them to our fax server. In these particular messages, the "body" of the message isn't showing up in the fax coversheet. The vendor support states that I need to change our Exchange POP3 - Message MIME format to "HTML and alternative text". Our setting is currently at "Best body format". If I change this setting to HTML and alternative text, will it have any negative affect on standard client emails? Most of our clients use Outlook 2010/2016, OWA or activesync connections and we have several other applications routing mail through Exchange.

do i need an internal MX record?

Exchange 2013 cu10

my mail server is working fine. send/receive internally and over the Internet.

i'm currently configuring an IMAP server running on linux and from that server i can receive an email from Outlook clients (note: i created an MX record in my DNS server for this IMAP server). now when i send from this IMAP server to Exchange users, i get access denied coming from my DNS servers. it isn't going to the CAS server.

question now is, should i create an MX record for my Exchange server to allow the users in my linux box send emails to my Exchange users? since i already have an MX record for my domain when Internet DNS servers are queried, would this additional MX record (which reside internal).

PST Public folder migration to Exchange 2016

$

Hi everyone,

I have a coexistence scenario with Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2016. O was able to migrate the mailboxes but I cannot access the Public Folder from the exchange 2010 console or command line (this 2010 are full of errors) and cannot migrate it as well.

I decided to make a lab environment with a Exchange 2010 to try to access this Public folders. Even with a recovery database and the database on Clean Shutdown, I got the error "ExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1726)".

I have a realy short deadline to solve this, so I decided to use a 3rd part (F*** mafia) software to export this EDB to PST and then restore on Exchange 2016. Does anyone can help me? I didn't find anything about this import procedure. I found to import users PSTs, which is not my case.

Is it possible to do?

Thank you.

Forward email to Contact to Custom Atrribute in Exchange 2013

$

Hi,

We're battling with a CRM and just can't seem to figure out how to fix this.  We need to be able to have duplicates in exchange, but unfortunately, Exchange won't allow us to, so we are trying to get creative.

Rather than doing that, I'm looking at creating contacts with a unique code for each CRM contact (1234@ourdomain.com, 2345@ourdomain.com, etc) and putting the correct email address (joe@hotmail, kev@gmail.com) in a Custom Attribute.  This can be done by our CRM platform no probs.

The next bit though I'd need to be able to do is forward all email to that contact to their custom attribute email address.  This will then ensure all email is going to the correct spot.

I had a look in powershell, and I can't see a Set-Contact -ForwardingSMTPAddress like there is forSet-Mailbox.  Does anyone know how to do this (or if it is possible)?

I'm running out of ideas on this one, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Luke

How to Remove Users (AD Disabled) from Team Calendar

$

Hello Team,

We are facing number of issues wherein the users who have left the organization (AD account disabled and Mailbox in disabled state) still show up in the Team Calendar View. The AD account still show their reporting manager but we cannot remove this data from the AD account of the user. Is this a known issue is there any fix to this?

The users having Disabled AD account should not be showing up in the Team Calendar view.

Exchange 2013 Autodiscover fails when proxing through IIS ARR 2.5

$

I have installed Exchange 2013 with Mailbox and Client Access Server Role.

For reverse proxy, I have configured Windows 2012 IIS ARR 2.5.

Although I am able to connect Outlook Web App using ARR, none of the other Exchange Web Services work (Autodiscover, OAB, OOF and Outlook Anywhere)

I have configured separate URL's for each of the services as per the TechNet blog article http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/08/02/part-2-reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr.aspx

If I point my DNS to Exchange 2013 server directly, then everything works.

If I try to open the Autodiscover URL from ARR server https://fqdnofexchange/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml , I get HTTP Error 502.3 - Bad gateway

If I try to open the Autodiscover URL from ARR server https://fqdnofARR/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml , I get page cannot be displayed error.

I have cross checked the URL rewrite rules and they are configured exactly as per the document.

Exchange 2013 throttling attribute for outlook folder count limit

Hi,

previously in exchange 2010 there were throttling attribute EWSFindCountLimit for outlook folder limit 1000 which we use to modify incase folder count more than 1000 to resolve the conversation history saving issue.

Now in exchange 2013 this throttling attribute EWSFindCountLimit has been removed.

Now which throttling attribute in exchange 2013  use to resolve the conversation history save issue if outlook folder count more than 1000

Thanks

Use-case question: Making a room calendar unavailable during a period in Exchange 2010?

$

0

Hello,

I have a use-case but I'm not sure if it's possible to do so in Exchange 2010 (not 2013 or 2016).

Sometimes we hold training sessions or some event in a meeting room.  The room has a calendar in Exchange 2010.  During those training periods, of course we would like to prevent the room calendar from being booked by other users -- that means the room calendar will automatically reject any booking from any user during the periods.  The question is: "What is thebest practice to achieve this?"

The training sessions are held by many trainers, so I can't ask everyone of them to book the room.  Right now, we would ask a user, say User1, to book the room for the whole period but this workaround is not good at all.  Because:

1. User1 has nothing to do with the training

2. In User1's calendar, he's not free during those periods and he cannot accept other invitations and this creates much conflict

Please help.

Supported configurations

$

I will preface this with a little background to explain the reason for the question:

We are replacing our SAN and have 3 vendors trying to sell to us. 2 of them we know for sure we could use and continue to run a supported configuration for Exchange 2013. However, the 3rd, which is our favorite based on experience with them in our VDI environment and their price point, does not support iSCSI. So, as we have virtual Exchange servers this means we would no longer have a configuration supported by Microsoft if we migrated to this vendor.

The vendor has advised that if we add a physical Exchange server Microsoft will support the mailstores/databases on NFS. I have not seen anything to confirm this so I thought I would ask the question here.

Will MS support an Exchange 2013 environment using a mixture of virtual and physical servers with the mail databases on NFS disk or do we still need to have them on iSCSI if we have virtual servers in the mix?

DLP Policy Tip for any message except particular domain

$

Hello.

Is there any easy way to show Mail/Policy Tips in Outlook 2013 when user sending message to any except one particular domain?

When I creating rule for Policy Tip (in Compliance Management -> Data Loss Prevention), Exchange claims that I must choose one of the Sensitive Information Type (like SSN or National Insurance Number), but I need to apply this rule to any message, no matter is there any sensitive information or not. I know I can create my own sensitive information type and I've tried to make it with Regexp witch match any letter or number, but with no luck (definitely I'm doing something wrong).
