MSExchangeADTopology events 2060, 2069 and 2142

Hi

I installed Exchange 2013 CU6 on a VM that was already running Azure DirSync and ADFS proxy. All mailboxes are on Office 365, none on-premise. We have a working hybrid configration which was set up in Exchange 2010. The exchange 2010 server is still running and fully functional

Exchange 2013 worked correctly for a week, but after installing updates and rebooting, most of the exchange services would not start and I got events 2060, 2069 and 2142 with errors like this:

Process Microsoft.Exchange.Directory.TopologyService.exe (PID=5660) Forest gendac.co.za. Topology discovery failed, error details
No Minimal Required Number of Suitable Directory Servers Found in Forest gendac.co.za Site GendacPta and connected Sites..

Our AD has only one site with two domain controllers. I followed the advice found here and a few other places and everything checks out. nltest /dsgetsite returns the correct site and nltest /dclist returns the correct domain controllers. I also checked the "Mange auditing and security log" user right on the domain controllers and it is correct. The exchange server is also in the "Exchange Servers" group. I have rerun setup /prepareAD with the TenantOrganizationConfig parameter, with no effect.

I want to run set-eventloglevel to enable more diagnostic information, but the exchange management shell won't work as the AD topology fails.

 Any ideas?
