Dear ,
i am testing commvault now as my future backup solution, and i am doing some tests on exchange 2016, and especially restore the exchange database in case of disaster.i have done the folowing tests : restoring emails using commvault and restoring mailbox using commvault, i am failed to restore a database i don't know what the problem is and don't know if the problem is from exchange itself or not.
the scenarion was :
the structure of my exchange server is : DAG 2016 (2 servers in the head quarter and 2 servers in the DR), on ecp i created a testing database on one of the exchange servers called "cmvttest", and then make a copy of this database on the rest of exchange servers, plus i have created two mailboxes inside this database. i took a backup of this database via commvault, then delete the mailboxes from exchange (which is delete in turn the users on AD) and delete the database from the 4 exchange nodes.
i restored the database and mount it on the servers, everything was ok, i restored also the users from active directory elated to mailboxes. when i open the mailbox properties on exchange i found that the mailbox database field is empty and the user was unable to connect to outlook.
my question :
1-how to link the mailbox again to the database restored, and in case i can it should work?
since this was not worked, so i removed the user from AD again wait for replication to done and restore it, now i can see that the user mailbox was linked to the right database (which is cmvttest restored) but when open outlook the mailbox is like new (empty) and no email inside it.
FYI : commvault was restored the database without any error, the size of the restored database is equal of the original one.
why this happen, and how can i solve it?
Many thanks.
Tony.
