Hi all,
My company is starting a new subsidiary that will have a brand-new AD forest and Exchange organization. This new subsidiary will likely have a multi-national presence with a subdomain for each location.
With all that in mind, the senior AD guy on my team is wanting to have a central domain for the "Corporate" presence (company.local) and a subdomain for each location (country1.company.local, country2.company.local). The asterisk here is that he isn't looking to add any Exchange servers to the root domain (company.local); he's only looking to have Exchange in each of the subdomains.
I have no experience with a multi-domain forest so I was a little curious as to how well this approach will work. Can I have Exchange installed in all subdomains butnot the parent domain? Reading the "Prepare Active Directory and Domains" on the Exchange 2013 TechNet site makes it seem like I can do the setup.com steps without issue, but having no experience with a multi-domain forest I figured I would ask.
Thanks in advance!
