communication between Edge and Transport servers in Exchange 2010

hi,

Its a strange communication error that I'm having here, though there are no service outages observed till now.

When I try to test-servicehealth from any HUB server to any Edge server, it always says some error (refer the error below), but the services are all running perfectly fine. even restarting of RPC service and WMI service not helped either.

likewise when I run get-exchangeserver -server <edgeserver> | fl name,*exchangeadminversion*, this result shows exchange version is 14.2, but the actual version of Edge server is 14.3 (SP3 with RU8. 

This means the communication between my Edge server to other exchange server having some issues? or is it a conman behavior that i no need to worry?

Replacing CAS, autodiscovery

Hello!

The situation is following:
1) installed MAILCAS.example.com with MBX and CAS roles. Created AUTODISCOVER.example.com (cname to MAILCAS) in public DNS servers.
2) installed MAIL.example.com with CAS role.
3) installed MBX1 and MBX2 with MBX role and created DAG.
4) moved mailboxes from MAILCAS to DAG.
5) changed AUTODISCOVER.example.com to point to MAIL.example.com
5) Now I want to remove server MAILCAS. Problem is that I get unwanted information from autodiscovery. There are still instructions to MAILCAS.

I used Connectivity Analyzer. Exchange Web services connectivity test (service account access) says this.
Autodiscover and Exchange ActiveSync test says this. Outlook Autodiscover test says this.

In Exchange Management Shell:

Missing the Mailbox Alias...

Hi People!

I'm trying this line:

Get-mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails RoomMailBox | Get-MailboxCalendarSettings| select Identity,BookingWindowInDays,MaximumDurationInMinutes,ConflictPercentageAllowed, DefaultReminderTime | export-csv MyMailboxesCalendarSettings.csv

How can I get the alias instead of Identity for each mailbox? I tried to type just Alias but it doesn't work.

I have gotten Event ID 1023 Perflib about a half dozen times over the last couple of days. I have researched the error but nothing concrete that refers to Exchange 2013. Anyone know the reason and fix for this? Its Exchange 2013 SP1 on Server 2012 R2.

Windows cannot load the extensible counter DLL MSExchange Store Interface. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the Windows error code.

Deleting or purging a specific contacts folder for all existing users

Hi,

I need to find a way to delete or empty the "Lync Contacts" folder (Subfolder in Contacts) for all existing Exchange users. I've tried narrowing it down by using kind:contacts parameter for the Search-Mailbox command, but that lists all contacts and I can't narrow it down further to that particular folder.

All contacts in the "Lync Contacts" folder have entries like "8/19/2013 This contact was added from Microsoft Lync 2013 (15.0.4517.1004) " in their "Notes" field. I tried to use this to my advantage and phrased my search like this:

Search-Mailbox -Identity "User Name" -SearchQuery all:"from Microsoft Lync 2013"

However, this also returns a few random emails, which don't have that specific string of text, but do mention Lync in their body.

I haven't yet found a way to combine the kind:contacts and the all:"from Microsoft Lync 2013" into one search. Trying to use AND operator or pipe didn't yield any success.

If you know how to combine these two searches or how to delete that folder using any other methods, please let me know.

One CAS needs another for sending mail to internet.

Hello!

I have Win2012 and Exchange 2013 in all servers. The situation is following:
1) installed MAILCAS.example.com with MBX and CAS roles. Created AUTODISCOVER.example.com (cname to MAILCAS) in public DNS servers.
2) installed MAIL.example.com with CAS role.
3) installed MBX1 and MBX2 with MBX role and created DAG.
4) moved mailboxes from MAILCAS to DAG.
5) changed AUTODISCOVER.example.com and MX record to point to MAIL.example.com
5) Now I want to remove server MAILCAS. Problem is in sending e-mails to internet. When MAILCAS is shut down, then e-mails to internet recipients accumulate to queue. After turning MAILCAS on, the e-mails fortunatelly go out.

When I compare the send connector settings in ECP then they are the same for MAIL and MAILCAS.
"Proxy through client access server" is not selected.

Where is the problem?

System and SMTP mailbox

Hi,

I am in the process of deleting a mail store in exchange 2003 and there 2 mail boxes called SMTP (servername{xxx}) and SystemMailbox{xxxx} do I need to move these to another mail store in the same server?

It appears that the "download all attachments" button from owa 2010 has been removed in 2013... Is this on purpose? Or will it be coming back in a patch? I have very frustrated users that are annoyed by the functionality in 2013 vs. 2010. Anyone in the know have any idea on this? Thanks!

Mailbox migration size(data copied) vs mailbox size limit granted to user

Hi,

I have an odd question. I am migrating a user from exchange 2010 to 2013 I can see that the statistics of the user are as follows:

The catch is that the user is restricted to a 2GB mailbox size limit. So where did the extra 10GB come from?

Unable to create outlook profile manually

Hello,

I have two Exchange 2013 Servers with combined roles with DAG configured. I am not using any cas server load balancer. I created manual entries of AutoDiscover pointing to one of the Exchange server. Now I am able to create Outlook 2013 profile automatically through AutoDiscover and there is no problem (Even with automatically configuration it is giving strange server name like 81038b66-57d8-44d1-abd6-f243e85fe7db@abc.com)

BUT when I try to create any user profile manually by giving one of the Exchange Server name, It gives me an error message

The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action

Kindly anyone please guide me where is the problem?

Single User Outlook 2013 new setup fails on "Logging on to the mail server"

Auto-discover works fine, Establishing network connection - green check, Searching for the user - green check, then on login it fails with "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action".   This issue just started happening for a single user, and follows the user to any PC we try to setup Outlook on, so it definitely seems to be an issue with her specific mailbox or account.  OWA does work, and she's able to sign in and check her mail here.

Is there any kind of maintenance that can be ran to fix this?  Any idea's why should would have been working fine for months, and then this issue come up out of the blue?

Ex Svr 2010 Public Folder Replication stopped working...?

Hello.

Hoping someone can help.  My problem is now my 2 Exchange 2010 Servers Public folders are no longer replicating beginning 2/27 – 3/1. 

2 – 3 weeks ago, I removed my last 2003 Ex Svr and tried to follow the steps.  It worked with errors. 

So far, I confirmed the 2 servers Public Folders replicas were checkmarked. 

Next it tried to use ExFolders to see what was happening.  It crashed.  I saw the below article.

I opened ADSIEdit & connected to the Configuration partition. I deleted the empty CN=Servers container from the old administrative group in CN=Configuration,CN=Services,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=OrgName,CN=Administrative Group,CN=OldAdminGroupName . I ran ExFolders again & did not get an error.

I went there and see the 2 admin groups I had in 2003 called NBO and BGZ and the new Exchange Administrative Group (abcd……).  The NBO and BGZ group have no server in the Server container and the new admin group has my new 2010 servers.

My big question is can I delete the Servers Container in NBO and BGZ or should I delete the entire NBO and BGZ containers without it breaking something…?

If deleting = OK, do I have to do anything after removal like restart a service...?

Need some help with this script:

 $users = import-csv "Usernames.csv"
foreach ($user in $users) {
Get-PublicFolder "PublicFolder"
add-publicfolderclientpermission -accessrights PublishingEditor -user $user

If you look at the error below it looks like it is trying to add the user in line 1 of the CSV file to each user in the csv file

Error:

Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'User'. Cannot convert value "@{user_in_line1=User_in_line2}" to type "Microsoft.Exchange.Management.StoreTasks.MailboxFolderUserIdParameter". Error: "Cannot convert hashtable to an object of the

following type: Microsoft.Exchange.Management.StoreTasks.MailboxFolderUserIdParameter. Hashtable-to-Object conversion is not supported in restricted language mode or a Data section."

I need to know which user is being used to send spam from my server. In exchange 2007 I have diagnostic logging. How do I enable the diagnostic logging on exchange 2013 with Authentication

Calendar items gets deleted randomly

Hi

I soon give up. I have a customer. 1000 users and 10 users claim that calendar items get deleted - randomly.

I have MailboxAuditLoggin enabled and can see that 

1. item is created
2. items are suddently softdeleted from the calendar (e.g. 10 items at once)

There are not "MovetoDeletedItems" which tells med that the user has shift+deleted many items at once - or something else did this for the user. :-)

The client is Outlook and the user is "Owner"

Any one else seen something like this? What can do this? Virus?

How to update value for msExchUserAccountControl for multiple user

Hi,

I have issue where value for msExchUserAccountControl were reverted to 2 for some of the users. I found the cause and fixed it. But i need to update the value to 0 for all those users. 

I can do it using ADSIEDIT for each user. But since its for bulk users, i need command line help. Is there any script or command which can do this? Using set-aduser i cant find any parameter which can modify the msexch properties.
