Version 15.0 (Build 847.32)
one of my mailbox server wasn't shutdown gracefully many times and now is offline. something happened to the networking part.
question is: do i need to remove the server from DAG and AD if i want to reinstall it? (keeping the same server name).
I'm running Exchange 2013 CU7 and I am unable to set a database maintenance Schedule. If I perform the action in the Exchange Admin center I get the following "error Your request couldn't be completed. Please try again in a few minutes.". I have tried powershell also and get the following output.
get-Mailboxdatabase db01 | Set-MailboxDatabase -MaintenanceSchedule "Sun.1:00 AM-Sun.5:00 AM"
CopyTo
+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], NotSupportedException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : RemotePSInvocationStateInfoReason
+ PSComputerName : ex13mb01.mydomain.local
The problem occurs on more than one database.
Any suggestions?

I have a single user out of 7k mailboxes that cannot access owa externally, internal works fine.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I am receiving below emails time to time in my unread folder of Outlook and no clue what is this about; Is it Exchange server end issue or an Outlook issue?
10:55:44 Synchronizing Mailbox 'name'
10:55:44 Synchronizing local changes in folder 'Sent Items'
MSB
2012R2
I just created an in place discovery based on a keyword, I then exported it to a .pst.
I noticed today that some of the emails cannot be opened, "This item cannot be displayed in the reading Pane, Open item to read its content"
So I ran the same query but got the same results so I thought maybe those emails were encrypted so I delegated myself rights to the mailbox and now I can open those emails just fine, no encryption.
Any idea why the .pst file has random emails that will not open yet can be opened directly from the mailbox?
Hi!
Quick question! Lets say I set outlookanywhere to:
InternalClientAuthenticationMethod: NTLM
InternalHostname: mail.domain.com
ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod: Basic
ExternalHostname: webmail.domain.com
How does the client determine what url and auth to use? Is it just trying with internal first and if its a successful connection it continues to use it? Is it based on Active directory sites ?
Thanks!
I have gone ahead and created a RetentionPolicy to remove items older than 60 days from the DeleteItems folder. I have assigned the new Policy to a few users that were migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. When I use the get-mailbox command, I can see the new policy applied. However.... when I perform a get-RetentionPolicyTag -Mailbox "MovedMailbox" nothing returns. What am I missing here?
How can I confirm this policy is applying?
Thanks
Hi All,
have just installed a secondary CAS/MBX and created a DAG, DBS copied ok.
Server 1 is "mail2.domain.com" and server 2 is "mail3.domain.com", mail2 has the active MDBs. (No, there's no mail1 in the system) They are on different subnets, no load balancer.
Now tuning the URLs to make things simpler for switchover and certs, trying to use "webmail.domain.com" for all URLs internal/external.
The cert contains the names webmail.domain.com and mail2.domain.com.
Setting all URLs to webmail.domain.com in OutlookAnywhere made internal Ouloook clients go bananas after a while, asking for creds indefinetly, no use in entering and/or saving creds, it kept on asking and got no connection.
I quickly set the old settings back and after abt 15 mins. things worked again, with the execption of Outlook now stating that the cert on mail3.domain.com is not valid, fair enough as that name is not on the cert, but why should Outlook now try to connect
to that CAS and not before..
Eksternal Outlook and other OWA clients was not affected by the changes I made, all good there.
However, I must be missing something here, I do not want to mess this up once more, it is a live site with 3000 mailboxes.
The running - and for now working - config is summarized below, any hints? Should it not work with all URLs set to webmail.domain.com?
BTW: webmail.domain.com is registered in internal DNS with only one IP for now.
Thanks.

We have an equipment resource calendar that we use to keep track of usage. It has delegates that accept the meeting request. The problem is the users would like to allow meeting requests that occur in the past because sometimes they don't put things in in advance, but they want to document the use. Every time a meeting request is sent with the date in the past:
Your meeting request was declined.
The invitation was declined because it occurred in the past.

My organization just recently pushed IE 11 out and I am finding that Microsoft Exchange ECP 2010 no longer works and crashes with an error message "a long running script.... something....." or "the webpage has stopped responding"...
If we use the current version of Chrome all works fine.
Is this a server setting that I need to change in Exchange or do we need to customize IE11 to work with it?
Appreciate any feedback.

Hi people!!
We have two Exchange environments in different forest. We want to do a crossforest migration from Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2013 (Exchange Resource Forest with Linked Mailboxes). These are the configurations:
Domain: SourceDomain.local
ActiveDirectory: 2012 R2 Domain Controllers. Domain functional level 2008
Exchange: Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 RU15
Domain: TargetDomain.local
ActiveDirectory: 2012 R2 Domain Controllers. Domain functional level 2012 R2
Exchange: Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 7 (CU7) (Exchange Resource Forest)
Both Exchange works fine. Exchange Server 2007 (SourceDomain.local) is currently in production and Exchange Server 2013 in Resource Forest (TargetDomain.local) is for migrating mailboxes in Linked Mailbox from Exchange 2007. We´ve configured a Linked Mailbox and it works.
We´ve configured a trust between the forests:
We´ve configured following prerequisites for migrating:
For Migrating Mailboxes, from Client Access Server in Exchange 2013 in PowerShell, We’ve done these steps:

Hello,
I can edit some Autodiscover settings in ECP, but not enough. Problem is that with autodiscover, these two lines are automatically checked:
- On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
- On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP
But that gives continuously the login screen when starting Outlook and every client must disable those two manually. This does not seems to appear on Apple devices.
Anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks.
I hope somebody has an answer now. We have the same issue as E Jackson's have/had.
We've migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013. Now only the Exchange 2013 available and the 2007 has been eliminated.
When I try to delete an address list from ECP or EMS (with 'Run as Administrator'), the output is:

I'm trying to setup an Exchange 2013 SP1 Edge Server on a Windows Server 2012 R2 platform. Taking a look over the prerequisites here, it's obvious that .NET Framework 4.5.2 is needed. However if one starts the Exchange setup, without installing this particular version, it will complete successfully based on the .NET Framework 4.5.1 that ships with Windows Server 2012 R2.
So is the Microsoft prerequisites article somehow pointing to a recommended version, taking into account issues with .NET 4.5.1 such asthis one ? Or is simply a mistake on that page and in fact it should read .NET Framework 4.5.1 ?
Hello!
Some cmdlets such as Get-Group, Get-GlobalAddressList output nothing when run on my second Exchange (CAS/MB) server:
They work as expected on Exch1. Exch2 does not have any issues either with its CAS or MB roles. No errors are generated in the EventLog when I run those cmdlets.
What could be the cause of this issue?
Thank you in advance,
Michael
