After creating exchange trust, I cannot sent emails.

We have setup Active Directory forest trust and we used FIM2010 R2 for GALSync. All the contacts have been created in the two forest. from one forest I can pick the contact from the address book and send an email without problems, but from the otherside I try the same but the emails are bouncing. 

On the bouncing emails, I can see that the originating domain is added automatically to the contact, I don'know where it comes from. this how the error message is generated:

Original message headers:
Here the Sendingdomian is where the email is originating from not the destination domain.
The email address of the recipient is test.user1@receivingdomain.com but I dont understand in error message why it put the originating domain instead of the destination domain.
Looking at the contact properties of I can see only this line in the email tab
SMTP:test.user1@receivingdomain.com
The exchange trust is between Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013.
I don't know if someone else has seen this.

Need repair or take long time after 2010 -> 2013 migration

Hi!

I have a problem when migrating to exchange 2013 that some users need to repair their outlook for it to realize that the mailbox is moved to a new database, for some, it works right away after a restart of outlook and for some it takes time and for others they need to repair their outlook.

What happens:

  1. Mailbox is migrated
  2. Outlook notifies user that administrator have made changes, "please restart outlook"
  3. After restart, Outlook says, "connected to microsoft exchange" but can't send or receive emails.
  4. In account settings -> Server settings. the old CAS-array is still specified as server, not the "GUID"-server.

Autodiscover works when testing outlook connectivity.

I have no idea why it works for some but not for others! Any ideas ?

I Need to convert Exchange EDB to PST file

OST file of one of the users has got corrupt, due to which he is not able to access his mails. He has asked me to provide him a solution to get access to his mailbox back. Being an Exchange Admin, I can convert the exchange EDB to PST, which the user can import into his Outlook to get the mails back. I have tried to export PST file from Exchange 2013 with powershell script but something went wrong and PST could not be exported. So, I am in a search of any alternate solution to Export Exchange EDB to PST.

Please help as I need to provide the used with PST file asap.

Why Exchange 2013 log files needs more free space?

hi guys,

I depoly exchange 2013 for our organization with 2 servers and configure DAG for these servers.

also database copy is running in exchange. but the main problem is that exchange log files are more than normall.(if i say they are not normal because i couldnt find any source in the internet about logs sizes.) 

could you help me, how to decrease the size of the log files in exchange 2013?

Accepted Domains Issue

Hi guys.

Recently I found out that you can set SMTP address for your users with domain that is NOT in your accepted Domains. 

Example: example.com is not in your accepted domains, Add SMTP:john@example.com to user john. Then Send an Email to john@example.com form inside organization.

the email will be received by john and wont go to edge servers...

This behavior is wiered. and will cause alot of problems. this email address will be treated like its inside organization.

Another thing is on transport rules when you set a rule for users that are outside organization john will trigger the rule.

Please fix this mess.

Send As, Send on Behalf not working

Hello

I have added send as permission on user1 mailbox for user2.

In browser OWA, When user2 logs in, and click on "New mail", and click on "From" drop down menu, he does not get any other option in this list except his own email id.

I guess this "from" dropdown menu should have user1 email id also since "send as" has been set for user2 (under user1 mailbox setting).

Same with "Send on Behalf" option. under User3 mailbox settings, "Send on Behalf: has been set to User4.

In browser OWA, when user4 logs in, and click on "New mail", and click on "From" drop down menu, he does not get any other option in this list except his own email id.

I restarted entire exchange server and also waited for more than 3 days (as some says it might takes 24 hrs to take effect)

Why they do not get any option under "from" dropdown of new mail window.

Pls help me.

Pass Correct exchange Settings

Exchange 2013 SP1 with 2 member server 1 DAG. We use alfresco on our network and this app sends email notifications to users of our alfresco share site. The problem is, with exchange 2013 configured for alfresco to send these notifications, these notifications are never sent. Wehn we use a gmail acct, notifications are sent. I have been hanging out in the alfresco IRC channel and got some very good info but notifications when sent through exchange 2013 still doesnt work. Here are the settings for alfresco:

So, my question is what are the correct settings for exchange suppose to be? I know exchange no longer accepts mail on behalf of someone so i am trying to give the correct settings to alfresco so exchange will send notifications. The exchange 2013 setup has not be "altered" so that the default way exchange works is still the way our exchange is setup.

What log file should i be looking at for more info as to why this is not working?

Safety Net theory questions

Hello!

Suppose there are 4 Exchange CAS/MB servers - Exch1-Exch4 - in a single AD site, no DAG exists.

A user with a mailbox on Exch1 sends a message to a user on Exch3.

"The Primary Safety Net exists on the Mailbox server that held the primary message before the message was successfully processed by the Transport service." - as far as I get it in my case the Primary Safety Net is on Exch1.

"The Shadow Safety Net exists on the Mailbox server that held the shadow message. " -

Q1: Which server is supposed to hold the shadow message (Exch2/Exch3/Exch4)?

Q2: In case a user sends a message outside his/her organization  where would the Shadow Safety Net exist?

Message resubmissions from Safety Net are initiated by the Active Manager component of the Microsoft Exchange Replication service that manages DAGs and mailbox database copies. No manual actions are required to resubmit messages from Safety Net. For more information about Active Manager, see Active Manager.

There are two basic Safety Net message resubmission scenarios:

  • After the automatic or manual failover of a mailbox database in a DAG.

  • After you active a lagged copy of a mailbox database.

Q3: Does it mean lagged database copies can not exist without Safety Net? In other words, can lagged database copies work if Safety Net is disabled?

Read Receipt and Delivery Receipt when sending as a Distribution group

When sending and email with the distribution group in the from address I can't receive a read receipt or a delivery receipt as the distribution group doesn't have a mailbox?

Migrating from a 3rd party server

Hi All

I am currently planning a migration away from a 3rd party Exchange 2010 server (which I have no access to) to my internal Exchange 2013 box. It will be around 80 mailboxes. My expectations are that the 3rd party will run a New-MailboxExportRequest command and supply my with the mailboxes in .pst format. I will then run New-MailboxImportRequest to import the pst's into my ready and waiting exchange/mailboxes. Its just occurred to me that I am likely to lose email autocomplete/quickparts/signatures but want to check if this is correct and if there is anything I can do to retain this data

Any advice would be appreciated

Time Until New Transport Rule Becomes Effective

In this Technet article, it's specified that the transport rules are stored in Active Directory. Even though it's not specified explicitly, to my knowledge this is being stored in the Configuration Partition. My question is - assuming the AD replication reaches a DC in the same site as an Exchange Mailbox server - how long does it take for the Transport service on that Mailbox server to pick-up the new rule ? Is it polling every 5 minutes, is it event-triggered, etc ?

In the same article mentioned above, it's stated that an event is written to the Security log in Event Viewer when this is being retrieved, unfortunately the ID isn't mentioned. Does anyone know what this might be ?

Exchange 2010 SP3 rollup query

I have installed exchanges 2010 SP3 on server. After that i have not installed any rollup, Neither rollup 1.

Can i directly install rollup 10  on Exchange 2010 SP3.

451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX5

I've noticed that on occassion when I connect to my Exchange 2013 CU 1 server, the server will respond with "451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX5" after I submit an e-mail for delivery.  It accepts the sender, verifies the recipient, asks for data and fails only upon submission.  Trying again right after the failure usually takes care of the problem what that's not a fix.  What's causing the problem? Anyone else seen this?

Exchange 2013 - Move mailbox - Warning Could not load the subscription for migration user

I have created a new DB and need to move all mailbox's to the new DB and delete the old one, i think i have managed to move the discovery mailbox's etc but the 6 user accounts will not move, i keep getting the following error:

Dear All ,

I have windows 2012 STD with ADS, DNS also another server Windows server 2012 R2 with  Exchange server 2013 SP1 it's working fine and i have create mail box all those features there is no problem . My exchange server 2013 it's was working one day perfectly the next day  I have a problem with AD some i got it Event view message  here ...

Event ID : 10015

Active Manager Client already doing query for object 'Main-Exchange' on another thread, however this thread didn't complete

in 100 msec. 

Event ID : 10006 Active Manager Client experienced an AD timeout trying to lookup object 'MAIN-EXCHANGE' in 00:01:00.

Then i  have been restart my Domain and  Exchange  is't working fine .... Please how can we solve this issue .. any new update ???

Exchange OWA and AD FS 3.0

Hello,

I am try to set up using ADFS for OWA authentication. I follow this post and try to do this.

The problem is  when I try to enable enable AD FS authentication on the OWA in the powershell, it said I need to enable AD FS authentication on ECP First. Is it true? I only want to enable ADFS for OWA, not for ECP.

Dcom Error

I had a server (Radiussrv) but now it is no more available (removed).

I'm getting a continuous error  "Dcom was unable to communicate with the computer Radiussrv using any of the configured protocols."

Please help me in this regard.
