Exchange 2103 allows for 100 gig mailboxes and claims no performance degredation up to 1,000,000 items per folder in outlook. So Exchange 2013 is really built around the concept of users have very large mailboxes compared to previous versions of Exchange. Our company is thinking about adopting a strategy where a subset of users (VPs, Directors, etc) have unlimited space with no retention policy. Storage is not an issue, I've been promised as much as I need. We currently have a ton of space on our storage arrays (two IBM V7000s).
I'm hesistant to sign off on this as Im afraid giving some users unlimited space could come back to bite us but MS claims its really not an issue anymore like it was on 2K7 which we just migrated from. Just wanted to get others thoughts on this and any pitfalls or things I should be aware of if going to a strategy like this using Exchange 2013. Thank you.
